The 40 GB PlayStation 3
If you thought the PS3 was an expensive piece of hardware, you’re still right to a certain extent. But keeping your plight in mind Sony has gone ahead and released a 40 GB version of the PS3 that’s being sold in India officially for Rs 24,990. If for some reason that’s still too steep for your pockets, you could always order the same model from the US where it’s being sold for around 16 grand.

The PlayStation Portable
Handheld consoles have made their way into our list as well, since you have three different iterations of Sony’s PlayStation Portable to check out this holiday season.

PSP Slim & Lite - Rs 8,990

The Xbox 360
If you’re looking to get into next-gen gaming, now would be a pretty good time to shell out hard cash on the Xbox 360, since Microsoft has (further) slashed the prices of the Xbox 360 for the month of December as part of their New Year celebratory offer. Yes, this month the Xbox 360 core console will be sold for Rs 14,990 while the Pro version will set you back by Rs 23,990.

NVIDIA 8800 GT

Have you been looking to upgrade your rig but can’t find a graphics card that fits your budget? Look no further, for NVIDIA has released the 8800 GT .
It costs only Rs 15,000 and is nearly as
powerful as
the 8800 GTX (which costs twice as much).

Right down to the color scheme, pretty much everything about the ASUS' just-leaked M930W is reminding us of Nokia's E90 business superphone, save for one very important detail: this one's running Windows Mobile 6 instead of S60. The specs reveal 3.6Mbps HSDPA, a pretty capable 3.2 megapixel autofocus cam, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, microSDHC slot, 256MB of ROM and 128MB of RAM. That's the good news; the bad is that we're lacking GSM 850 and 3G 850 / 1900 here. What else is new, right? France's GPS&Co has it pegged for a Q1 '08 release at a yet-to-be-determined price.

Time's running out, folks, and if you've got an Xbox 360 gamer in your life that you've vowed to spend a C-note on (and nothing more, tax notwithstanding), here's a bright idea. Microsoft has just cut the price of its Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel by $30 to a manageable $99, and it also comes bundled with a driver disc and a demo of Forza Motorsport 2. So, what are you waitin' on? No, really, what's the holdup?

AMD removed any lingering secrecy when it gave the official word to expect new kit based on the R680, RV620 and RV635, but now we're seeing a trio of actual products (all PCIe 2.0) that are purported to be built around the aforementioned cores. According to MadBoxPC, the ATI Radeon 3450 HD will be based on the RV620, utilize 55-nanometer fabrication technology and will feature a 525MHz core clock, 400MHz memory clock (800MHz DDR), 256MB of DDR2 RAM and VGA / Display Port outputs. Moving on up, we've got the Radeon 3470 HD, which is based on the same core but gets clocked a hair faster and ditches Display Port for DVI. Finishing things off is the RV635-based Radeon 3650 HD, which will come in a 800MHz XT flavor and a 600MHz Pro iteration along with 256MB - 512MB of GDDR3 RAM. The trifecta is reportedly going to ship sometime next month, and they'll cost you just $50, $60 and $100, respectively.

What do you do when the power goes out and you're stuck without a light to guide your urine safely into the lavatory? You could grab a torch as an illuminating aid, or you could screw convention and keep a rechargeable light bulb, named the Load, continually charged in case your power does go out. (Does that even ever happen anymore?) Who needs a battery dependent torch? Why not instead have an awkward, mains-leeching, portable light bulb? The Load will provide you with 5-hours of light on a single charge, and is made of durable plastic, so chucking it around for funzies is an option.

What better artist to depict on a watch than the immortal Salvador Dali, Spanish surrealist painter of The Persistence of Memory and many other works featuring time and confusion. You'll need to jump to the next page to see an animation of the insane way the watch's hands move, accompanied by one of Dali's favorite images representing decay and death, the ant, crawling around its circumference to indicate the seconds.

Fond of referring to himself in the third person, Dali probably would have been the first to wear a silly timepiece like this.

This handmade, sterling silver ring from Analogue Aesthetics features a built-in microphone and a standard 3.5mm plug. Surely you can imagine the sort of fun that can be had with a device like this—plus, if a verbal jousting match with a heckler turned ugly, you have the satisfaction of knowing that a punch to the face with this baby on would be devastating. Available for $105

Even though solid state flash drives are quickly coming to take over for regular HDDs, there are still innovations to be had with our trusted old platter drives. Take this Tomato D-18, for example, which is an external 60GB HDD that's a mere third of an inch thick, enclosure included. Coming in a slick little case and not requiring external power, this wee HDD looks more like a PMP than an external drive. It's available now for $107.

MPK, a company that has made a name producing glow-in-the-dark paint, has developed self-luminous micro particles called Litrospheres. The new material is said to be inexpensive (35 cents to light up a 8 ½ x 11 piece of plastic that is 1/8" thick), non-toxic, and capable of staying constantly lit for over 12 years thanks to a betavoltaic technology that uses a radioactive gas.

Fortunately, the gas is involves a "soft" emission of electrons that cannot penetrate the glass or polymer wall of the microspheres. So theoretically, you don't have to worry about brain tumors or taking on super powers when using it.

The Litrospheres, which can be injected molded or added to paint, are not affected by the heat or cold and they can withstand up to 5000 pounds of pressure. They can also give off light that is equivalent of a 20-watt incandescent bulb in almost any color imaginable. As you might expect, the first applications of the technology will most likely involve safety equipment—or the clothing and accessories of frequent clubgoers.

Write or draw whatever you want, and this Epos Digital Pen wirelessly transmits that data in real time to its included USB flash drive that you clip onto the paper you're using. Plug the USB drive into a PC and transfer the data, and then your writings can be converted to text using any handwriting recognition software. There's no pricing yet, but the company says this improved version of this digital pen will be available sometime next year.

Today Asus rolled out the world's first EN8800GT graphics card with 1GB of Qimonda memory. The card is designed to provide optimum DirectX 10 gaming and multimedia playback performance even at the highest resolutions and quality settings. The unit also utilizes an integrated SmartDoctor feature, allowing users to overclock the Shader Clock for performance gains that they claim can exceed 10%.

ASUS also noted that a new Glaciator fan / heatsink hybrid keeps the GPU running at temperatures that are up to 7ÂșC cooler. Pricing details have not been made available, but you can expect to see the at card on store shelves by the end of December.

Soccer may not be the most popular sport in the US--but don't tell that to millions of minivan-driving suburban mothers. Chances are, the kids they are constantly hauling back and forth to practice would love this soccer ball remote. Not only will it handle your TV, DVD and satellite controls, it is also a full-size, functional ball. So you can kick it around, do headers and let the TV channels fall where they may. I just hope you are a fan of English soccer. Available for around $41.

The quartz wall clock comes in assorted colors. Unfortunately, the buyer doesn't get to choose the color. While that may sound like a real bummer, the clock is a real buy at only $15. So we can't complain too much!

Like most wall clocks, this clock runs on AA batteries. All you need to do is buy the clock, pop the batteries in, and watch the clock keep perfect time - backwards. :-)

The new Need for Speed is here: Pro Street.

Don't get confused. This isn't like other EA Street titles with over-the-top arcade slam dunks and impossible maneuvers. This is Pro Street. In fact, EA did the exact opposite and created an entire new genre of racer: the street racing simulation. "The Fast and the Furious" meets Forza.

Well, don't tell that to producer Michael Mann. His team at EA Black Box, responsible for NFS: Most Wanted, wants to distance Pro Street as far away from "The Fast and the Furious" as possible. Pro Street isn't about a glowing, fluorescent purple underbelly to your car. Pro Street is 100 percent about performance and the culture of street racing.

And if you didn't know, street racing happens to be illegal. To accommodate, professional race tracks are opening their doors to street racers in unheard of numbers. Pro Street will feature real world locations like Sears Point Raceway (now Infineon Raceway) near Sonoma, Calif. While EA wouldn't go into detail on the other tracks, it did say that you can expect a number of "iconic locations" in Asia, Europe and the States.

Live from Infineon.
What we didn't expect from EA was just how "real world" it was taking NFS. We watched a developer do a quick lap at Sears Point and this is unlike any NFS you've ever seen. It actually looks real. Sears Point was bordering on photorealism. More importantly, the sense of intense speed is gone -- this game plays more like Forza than previous NFS titles in which you dodged cops and knocked opponents off cliffs. We watched as he apexed turns and scratched our heads as he used these strange contraptions known as brakes.

The biggest question we had for EA was this: Why? Pro Street is a not really a sequel -- it's a distinct departure from the franchise's roots, a turn in a completely new direction. Quite simply, said EA, street racing fans have been demanding real-world believability. That all starts with the race weekend.

The race weekend will be a spectacle.
It's then that the street racing community gathers, car enthusiasts that like to build and show off their high-performance racers. They do that in a number of ways, and EA has included a few in several events that comprise the race weekend in Pro Street: Drag, Drift, Grip, Circuit and Speed Challenge. The career goal is focused around working your way up the ladder in each event and eventually becoming "king of the street."

If u wanna lock a file with a password ...
u can do so using win rar..
Almost all archives support giving password, including WinZip, 7-Zip and it's not something special with Win Rar.
Bt Win Rar is more comfortable than any other.
And if you are setting access like this, it is better you set the compression level to "Store", which will make the compression and decompression faster, since the main aim here is to set a password.

1)Right click on the file for which u want the password to b put.
2)Click on "Add to Archive".
3)Then go to Advanced tab.
4)Click on set password...choose new password.
5)Click ok.
6)A win rar file with ur filename will be created.
7)Next u may delete the original file, as u have now compressed it with a password.
Any1 trying to open the rar file wont be able to, unless he knows the password.

So, no need of folder lock software.
enjoy your privacy guys....

The phrase “my computer has got virus!” may just take on a new meaning in the future. Researchers have invented a way to coat 30-nanometre-long chunks of tobacco mosaic virus with platinum nano-particles, creating a transistor with very fast switching speed. And by combining millions of these transistors, super-fast memory chips could be created to replace our existing memories.

Photo courtesy of unity.project from Flickr.

The team built a transistor by embedding the coated virus strips in a polymer matrix, sandwiched between two electrodes much like a standard transistor. Apply a voltage to the transistor, and the platinum nano-particles – roughly 16 per virus – each donate an electron to proteins on the surface of the virus, moving the device to an ON state.

When the voltage dips below a certain threshold, the electrons jump back to the nano-particle, switching the transistor to an OFF state.

The increase in speed could be as much as 1,000 times. Virus or not, I don’t care. Just give me speed, speed and more speed!

For all those naughty boys and girls watching Naughty things in your computer, there is a new tool. But not a hardware. Its just a mirror to see who are in your back.
Measuring 3″ in diameter, comes in clear or assorted colors, and attaches to your monitor with Velcro. Everyone should have one!

Rear view mirror for your computer.

Key points about the phone:

  • The N82 features a 5 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. This is the same camera module as that found in the N95. Instead of an LED based flash the N82 has a Xenon based flash. This is more powerful and should give better picture in low light situations. The camera is also reportedly much faster to start and to capture pictures.

Nokia describe it as the 'best cameraphone on the market' and a 'creditable alternative to stand alone cameras'. The camera also supports shooting video (at VGA resolution at up to 30 fps). There is an on device editor for both still images and video (video editing more basic than N95). Camera specifications are:

    • CMOS sensor, 5 megapixel (2592 x 1944), Carl Zeiss Tessar lens
    • F number/Aperture: F2.8
    • Focal length: 5.6 mm
    • Focus range 10cm - infinity
    • Macro focus distance: 10-50 cm

  • Nokia highlight the sharing capabilities of the phone. The N82 will ship with Share Online pre-installed. This allows for one click upload to Flickr and other web services. There's also the usual XpressPrint support which allows you to print photos via Bluetooth (to supported printers) or via USB (PictBridge compatible printers). You can also order prints online directly from your phone.

  • There's an on board accelerometer to enable automatic rotation of the user interface. When you turn the phone from portrait to landscape orientation the UI will automatically change (user configurable). This is also used to automatically rotate photos to the correct orientation when you capture them.

  • The screen is a 2.4 inch QVGA screen with support for 16 million colours. (This is smaller than the N95 (2.6 inches) and the N95 8GB (2.8 inches), but the phone is smaller overall than both of these devices.

  • The phone weighs in at 114g and has dimensions of 112 x 50.2 x 17.3 mm (90cc in volume). This phone is similar in size and shape to the Nokia N73 (110 x 49 x 19 mm).

  • The phone includes a built in GPS (with support for assisted-GPS to give fast satellite / location lock on times). Nokia Maps is pre-installed and the phone comes with a free trial of the voice guidance portion of Nokia Maps.

  • The phone has a 3.55mm audio jack for listening to music. This is also used for the TV-Out function. The phone ships with a wired headset (HS-43). There are integrated stereo speakers, along with an FM radio, support for both Windows Media DRM and OMA DRM 1.0/2.0 specifications

  • There is 100MB of dynamic internal memory and a microSD (SDHC is supported) card slot for memory expansions. A 2GB microSD card card is included in the sales package (this may vary by market).

  • The phone's connectivity options include quad-band GSM, WCDMA at 2100 MHz (European / Asian bands), and WiFi (802.11 b/g) inlcuding support for UPnP connectivity.

  • The usual Bluetooth support is on board including support for the AVRCP and A2DP profiles. There is no IrDA port.

  • PC connectivity is provided by a micro USB port. The phone supports USB Mass Storage and Windows Media Transfer protocol.

  • The phone uses the Nokia BP-6MT with a capacity of 1050 mAh.

  • The N82 is available immediately in key markets (Europe, Middle East and Asia). The unsubsidised prices in 450 Euros before tax (around £315). You can therefore expect a high street price of around £370-£400 initially (based on 17.5% tax).

There's a good chance that the animation or cartoon game you want to download was created using Flash. Use these tips for downloading Flash files from the Internet to your hard drive. You save all Flash animations from web pages, including Flash websites, Flash game, Flash Animations, Flash Tutorials, Flash Movie Trailers, Flash Advertisements, or what ever Flash files you find in the web.

Saving Flash files from Firefox

b. Click the Media Tab on the Page Info Windows
c. The media tab has a complete list (with preview) of Images, CSS Files and Shockwave Flash files that were downloaded by the Firefox browser while rendering (loading) the page.
d. Scroll down the list and locate the swf file.
e. Click the "Save As" button. Select some directory on your hard drive and save the file (No need for a third-party plug-in)

All it takes is a minor error in the Windows Registry or a virus infection, and your operating system can become unbootable. But with a properly configured USB flash drive on hand, you’ll always have a compatible replacement no further away than your pocket or keychain. In addition, the flash drive can also provide a secure browser and virus scanner, and lets you take your favorite DVD burning and Office software with you wherever you may go.

All that’s needed is a bootable USB Flash drive with at least 256 MB of storage capacity and a Windows Setup CD. Using the program Bart PE Builder (Freeware), you can install Windows XP on the flash drive, along with other software as needed (and as available space permits).

Well, I haven’t try that and I don’t know whether it’ll really work or not…I’ll leave it to the computer experts out there to do the testing. Do post a comment here when you’ve attempted this. And good luck :D

This 22nd Century gadget is about half the size of your average deck of cards, sits wirelessly on any flat surface, and projects a red standard QWERTY-layout keyboard on any flat opaque surface. Using detection technology it “watches” your fingers hit the key locations it has projected, and then sends the keystrokes through to your PDA, smart phone or pocket PC via Bluetooth.

Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed
Being a fan of the Splinter Cell series (loved Double Agent on the Xbox 360), I was really looking forward to Splinter Cell Conviction but now, it seems I’m going to have to wait for a while since the game has officially been delayed to the first quarter of 2008.

Ubisoft announced today during its financial report for the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2007, that Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction has been delayed. The game, which was originally scheduled for release in the third fiscal quarter of 2007-08, will now be released in the fourth fiscal quarter; that means it will ship sometimes between January and March of 2008.

Having an MP3 player is one thing and I think it’s extremely sensible to have one in your mobile phone so you don’t have to worry about carrying too many gadgets with you. The 5700 hasn’t accomplished something new in that field however. It’s not the first nor will it be the last. But what phones like these have that can be construed, as distinguishing factors, are their designs and how user-friendly they are, from transferring your files and data to even the speed at which the phone operates. Let’s see how the 5700 holds up with regards to these and other factors.

Form Factor

The design concept of this funky phone I can’t say is unique. It’s a reinvented and sleeker, or should I say rounder, (for want of a better word) version of the Nokia 3250 and a little bit of the 5300 I’d have to say as well. On the top and bottom you’ll find the Power switch and 2.5mm earphone socket respectively. At first I was quite disappointed to see the 2.5mm socket but like the 3250 model, this one comes with a converter as well that’s attached to a control clip. The controller has everything to control the music player, voice dialing and taking and ending calls. So you can attach any other earphones to this if you don’t like Nokia’s ‘In-your-Ear’ earphones that come bundled.

What you may find a bit odd is that there’s one speaker on the left at the top and the other on the right side at the bottom. The reason is when you twist the bottom all the way round to the media mode keypad, both speakers will be on the same side. Ingenious. Half way around is the 2 megapixel camera of course. The bottom can also be twisted the other way although it won't go all the way round but the camera will point at you in case you wanted to be a narcissist and take a shot of yourself.

On one side of the phone are the volume/zoom keys, and on the other side underneath a flap just below the infrared sensor is what houses the charging port, the microSD slot and miniUSB port. The 5700, like most of Nokia’s new models also has a light sensor located at the very top near the headset. What it does is gauge how much light is present and adjust the settings in your phone so the keypad doesn’t light up. If you cover it or if it’s dark enough the keypad will light up. The ‘Clear’ and ‘Menu’ buttons on either side of the screen would seem oddly hard and unworkable till you realize that the button itself is located just above the symbol. On the whole the keypad itself is extremely easy to use for messaging or otherwise.

Easy to use camera
Good music player
Great design
Good battery life
Folders are not properly placed
